What you get Tightly packed into the engine bay is a 3 litre, twin turbo, intercooled V6. With quad cams and four valves per cylinder it's capable of making things happen quite quickly. Nissan gave the Fairlady all the gadgets too, these include: digital climate control, multi-control electric seats, four-wheel steering, electric folding mirrors and targa top option. Many examples have leather upholstery, though the hard Japanese hide is prone to wear. Lastly you have your choice of body type; The 2+2 with 'little people' rear seating, the lighter and cheaper two seater, (available in non-turbo) and the rare non-turbo convertible which is now approaching reasonable prices. |

and owning If you think that the 2+2 is liable to get lost in the crowd, then the convertible is amongst the most distinctive of all imports, whereas the two seater will allow you to scare your mates one at a time. The fear need not be restricted to passengers either. Rapid, pride mincing, power oversteer is something the evil twin's turbos can deliver in large servings (as a young friend of ours found when 10 years ago in the wet he wrote off one of the first examples to be imported). This aside the Z handles very well, though it's heavy, the weight is slung low and in experienced hands, cornering is flat and fast. If you want a machine that looks fast and has the performance to match, your ship has come in. |
