GT-R Dumped

Nissan will halt production of GT-R and Silvia models in August.

The action will coincide with the end of a moratorium on year 2000 exhaust emission regulations. Nissan will mark the end of R34 GT-R production with two limited edition varients; the M spec Nür and GT-R V spec II Nür (Nürburgring). Both will be equipped with N1spec engines producing around 335kW when unrestricted.
One thousand pre-sold units will be built, with prices starting at 6.1 million yen for the 1780kg V spec II Nür and 6.3 million yen for the 1800kg M spec Nür.
Two limited edition Silvia varients will also be offered; the spec-R and spec-S.

Skyline GT-8

Nissan is poised to introduce the first eight-speed CVT to a production car.

The gearbox will define a new range topping vehicle; the '350 GT-8', a
V35 Skyline powered by the same 208kW 3.5 litre V6 as the 350Z.
The eight-speed is an evolution of the companies existing six-speed CVT. Well matched, narrow ratios reportedly engage smoothly and quickly, requiring only 0.2 seconds per change. The box captalises on the V6's low and mid-range torque to significantly improve acceleration and throttle response.
Given the performance gains, there are plans for an eight speed 350Z and for possible use in the GT-R, now said to be scheduled for release in early 2004. Used on these driver's platforms the new transmission will add performance and control as well as unique brag appeal.
The Skyline 350 GT-8 debuts in late January in Japan.

SC500?

Well not exactly... more of a Lexus 'Cruiser' really.

The 2002 Los Angeles Auto Show has seen Lexus show off one of the cars it has made for the upcoming Spielberg movie 'Minority Report'.
The movie stars Tom Cruise, who along with Spielberg had a hand in designing the futuristic vehicle.
Reportedly Cruise wanted a 'short front end, high windshield and proportions that make it look like it’s going backwards'.
Any clues here for the design of a future SC or Supra? Who knows, but we'll see the car and the star in late 2002, when the movie lands here.
