Evo
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show the Pajero Evolution Concept
demonstrates Mitsubishi's determination stay in front in the face
of new Paris-Dakar rally regulations.
Participating
in the concept's design was Jutta Kleinschmidt who won the 2001
Paris-Dakar Rally in her current model Pajero Evo.
The new machine is powered by a 3.5-litre MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative
Valve lift and timing Electronic Control) equipped V6 with twin
turbos, producing 335kW. Power is fed through a sequential 6 speed
which propels it from 0 to 100kph in an estimated six seconds.
Ensuring spectacular handling are the vehicles Super Select 4WD,
AYC (Active Yaw Control), ACD (Active Centre Differential), adjustable
rear spoiler and 22" alloy rims with 285/45/R22 'run flat' tyres.
The
two seater interior features an integrated steel roll cage, water
tank, survival kit, satellite navigation, telephone and Internet
access.
If
it makes production, the new Evo should see Mitsubishi take Paris-Dakar
rallying and performance 4WDs to a new level. Step into the kitchen
Porsche Cayenne... you're about to be peppered.

Cosmo
21
At
the 2002 Tokyo Auto Salon, Mazda
took
the wraps off it's
new Cosmo... the 21.
The new retro coupe owes it's distinctive curves to the original
1967
Cosmo 110S.
Its engineering however, owes more to
the MX-5, with which
it shares it's platform.
Power is far from retro; the 21 will be powered by the same Genesis
rotary that powers Mazda's new RX-8, four door sports coupe.
MX5
handling, ultra light panels and 185kW of power, look out... 'cos
Cosmo's back!

Auto Evo
Mitsubishi
recently introduced the Lancer Evolution VII GT-A.
Based
on the Lancer Evolution VII GSR, the new model is powerd by the
same 2 liter, turbo, 4 cylinder engine. Maximum output stands at
200kW (6,500rpm) and torque at 343Nm (3,000rpm).
The GT-A is the first Evo to be fitted with automatic transmission,
an INVECS-II Sport Mode 5 a/t, a similar system to that used in
the FTO. A number of exterior changes have also been made, taming
the manual Evos 'look at me' styling.
Mitsubishi hope to sell 2,000 GT-As at 3,300,000 yen.
