Import Insurance

Insurance for your import can be expensive depending on your age and how fast your chosen machine will travel. Super-car performance like that of GT-R and Supra, attracts super premiums, justified or not. But then again, try buying a local car with with similar performance... you'll likely pay double for the car, and a similar amount in insurance. Insurance on cheaper, lower performance imports is quite affordable, but shop around, the lists of brokers & insurers below is a good place to start.

If you are up for big premiums, have a successful history of defensive driving, and can park your beloved next to your bed at night, you might consider going without comprehensive insurance. If you do go this way though, make sure you have good security (alarm with immobiliser, and/or satellite tracking) and it's not a bad idea to put some of the cash you save on insurance aside, in case the worst does happen i.e.. Your own insurance fund. But, be aware that there are some reports of modified imports being targeted for theft, the thieves 'joy riding' and then stripping vehicles of salable after market goodies. Money in your pocket or peace of mind... up to you.
