S-Cargo, It’s French for Yum

The Tokyo Motor Show in 1989 saw the release of a quirky, but futuristic and practical commercial van. The Nissan S-Cargo ‘snail car’ is the result of a Nissan collaboration (with Lego perhaps?). But with only 12,000 vehicles built from 1989 to 1992 this is a tasty, limited edition morsel.

What you get

A 1.5 litre engine, 3 speed automatic transmission, electric windows, air conditioning, central locking, power steering, removable rear seats, large easy to read gauges and a large flat dash area for street

directories and paper work. Huge side doors for easy access and a top hinged rear door with low payload floor for easy loading. The expanse of flat vertical panels beg for signage to promote anything from fast food*  to a mobile dog wash and with its freakish good looks and rarity there’s no danger of your ad being missed.

Driving and owning

From the outside, this thing is…  well Noddy is probably driving one around to Big Ears place as we speak. The inside though, is spacious, with huge headroom and the numerous practical features make living with the S-Cargo easy. It is also surprisingly fun to drive with the punchy little engine and auto gearbox a good combination…  the confused smiles of other motorists and pedestrians are a bonus.

Importdriver's choice

The S-Cargo offers practicality and promotional value, and there is no alternative if that’s what you need, simply because there is nothing remotely similar on the market.
